Washing vegetables, fruits and meat before getting in our pot or serve them is one of the common rules of hygiene. But what about the water we wash them?

Why should we wash them?

It is obvious that fruits and vegetables recommended for a healthy diet. However, there have been problems of food-borne infections that are directly related to the primary products and the use of pesticides and insecticides even unacceptable animal husbandry conditions, creating additional concerns about the safety of food that we consider healthy.

Fruits and vegetables eaten mainly raw without any cooking process that removes pathogens, this means that much of the food we eat could potentially carry food-borne illness.

What about water?

Even if you purchased expensive organic safe products for you and your family and continues to wash them with tap water you fool yourself. Definitely washing them with water is the best way to clean food, but an unsafe water does not give the solution.

Why filtered water?

The reason for using filtered water for washing food is that the filtered water is filtered from additional dangerous infectious compounds. The public water system uses chlorine to remove bacteria and pathogens. However, exposure to chlorine has been linked to health problems such as damage to vital organs and skin allergies.

Besides this, foods washed with chlorine does not have good taste. That is why the world's top chefs use filtered water in their restaurants to wash and cook their meals. The food keeps its natural taste, look better and remains safe for consumption.
